Description
A warm, comforting, and energizing latte made with matcha powder and creamy coconut milk. This easy recipe is perfect for a peaceful morning ritual and customizable to your taste.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 teaspoon matcha powder (ceremonial grade recommended)
- 2 ounces (60 ml) hot water (about 175°F / 80°C)
- 1 cup (240 ml) full-fat canned coconut milk (or carton coconut milk for lighter option)
- 1–2 teaspoons sweetener (maple syrup, honey, agave, or preferred sweetener)
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
Instructions
- Heat coconut milk gently in a small saucepan over medium-low heat until warm and creamy, not boiling.
- Heat water to about 175°F (80°C). If no thermometer, boil water and let sit for 1 minute.
- Place 1 teaspoon matcha powder in a mug or bowl. Pour in hot water.
- Whisk vigorously in a zigzag motion until matcha dissolves and a light green frothy layer forms.
- Add sweetener to the matcha mixture and stir until dissolved.
- Froth the warm coconut milk using a handheld frother or whisk vigorously.
- Slowly pour coconut milk into the matcha mixture, holding back foam with a spoon, then top with frothy foam.
- Stir gently, taste, and adjust sweetness or coconut milk as desired. Enjoy warm.
Notes
Use ceremonial grade matcha for best flavor. Avoid boiling water to prevent bitterness. Froth coconut milk for café-style texture. Adjust sweetness gradually. For iced version, whisk matcha with hot water and pour over ice, then add cold coconut milk.
