Description

A cozy and comforting baked oatmeal recipe with sweet apples and warm cinnamon, perfect for busy weeknights. Made with just five simple ingredients and easy to prepare.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups rolled oats (old-fashioned, not instant or steel-cut)
  • 2 cups milk (whole milk preferred, but any dairy or plant-based milk works)
  • 2 medium apples, peeled and diced (about 300g; Granny Smith preferred)
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar (50g)
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • Pinch of salt (optional)
  • Optional: handful of chopped nuts for crunch

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Peel and dice apples into small pieces. Lightly grease an 8×8-inch baking dish with butter or non-stick spray.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine rolled oats, brown sugar, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt if using. Stir to evenly distribute.
  3. Pour in the milk and gently stir. Fold in the diced apples, ensuring they are evenly spread throughout the mixture.
  4. Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish and spread evenly. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes until the top is golden and the oats have set but remain slightly soft in the center.
  5. Remove from oven and let cool for 5 minutes to set. Serve warm with a drizzle of milk or a dollop of yogurt if desired.

Notes

Use fresh apples for best texture and flavor. Grease the baking dish well to prevent sticking. Leftovers reheat well with a splash of milk to keep creamy. Can be made ahead and refrigerated overnight before baking. For dairy-free, use plant-based milk and substitute brown sugar with maple syrup or coconut sugar for vegan option.
